We are thrilled to kick off our Housing Justice 101 Workshop, taking place virtually on Thursday, May 16th at 3 PM.

During the workshop, we will cover various topics such as the underlying reasons for homelessness, fair housing practices, addressing criminal backgrounds in screenings, and strategies for tenant organizing.

As the organization grows, we are seeking expertise in Human Resources, Non-profit Law, and Public Policy. More importantly, we are also seeking people who bring the expertise of lived experience to the organization and have a desire to work to end homelessness in our community.

Help us at NEOCH and recommend the Homeless Advocate of the Year & Social Justice Advocate of the Year by recommending an advocate on our google survey for our annual meeting March 27th. 

The challenges for individuals and families experiencing homelessness continue to rise and the struggles faced by those without stable housing remain constant. There is no doubt that there is much to worry about in our world. As I reflect on this context and our mission, I am reminded that our work is more critical than ever and for the people we serve it is about cultivating hope. Today, I am inviting you to hope with us.

Euclid Beach Mobile Home Residents and NEOCH staff all met on Thursday, November 16th at 8:00am at the Cleveland Metroparks Board of Commissioners meeting.

Do you interact with unhoused people where you work, learn, live or worship? Learn how to best assist and interact with people who may be experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness.

Learn how people experiencing addiction are criminalized, penalized, and dehumanized within social services, and what you can do to create a healthier environment for the people you serve.

Learn the ins and outs of the housing and shelter systems in Cuyahoga County. Participants will get an overview of how people become housing insecure and homeless, what their options are, and how they can access the resources they need to regain stability. Participants will also learn about fair housing law, tenants’ rights, and the eviction process.

Dispel homelessness myths and learn how the problem is perpetuated through systemic racism and the commodification of housing. Hear from NEOCH staff and board members about the historical and modern causes of homelessness, and what we can do to build a world where everyone has a safe place to call home…

On the morning of Friday, May 19th NEOCH staff and the United Residents of Euclid Beach tenants’ union gathered at the Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s (WRLC) breakfast fundraiser in Moreland Hills to protest the WRLC’s decision to close the Euclid Beach Mobile Home Park and displace over 100 Euclid Beach residents in September 2024.
