The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) is seeking applicants for its full-time Street Outreach Director position. NEOCH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to eliminate the root causes of homelessness while loving our diverse community through organizing, advocacy, education, and street outreach. The Street Outreach Director will oversee the daily operations of the Cleveland Outreach Collaborative, including NEOCH street outreach staff and staff from partnering organizations that work collectively to support Cleveland’s unsheltered population.

The Neighborhood Outreach Worker is a shared position between Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) and Ohio City Improvement Corporation (OCIC), Ohio City’s Special Improvement District. This is a new role created to provide services throughout the Ohio City neighborhood, including building relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness, providing basic need items, and encouraging individuals to enroll in services for housing, victim support, and healthcare.

With the CDC eviction moratorium coming to an end, renters in Cleveland are still left vulnerable, with many waiting on emergency rental assistance to come through. Having a Pay to Stay ordinance on the books would mean renters behind on their rent are granted the right to stay in their homes if they come up with the rent and late fees before the eviction is granted by the court.

Over the last several weeks, NEOCH has been made aware of concerning actions taken by the City of Independence in response to a hotel on Rockside Road being used and serviced 24/7 by Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry to house men experiencing homelessness.

NEOCH presents information on how homelessness is perpetuated through systemic barriers to housing. NEOCH seeks to dispel homelessness myths, and shift the narrative from individual responsibility, to systemic accountability. Participants will hear from housing experts on what they can do to create a world where everyone has a safe place to call home.
