It has to be made clear that the number of complaints are a vast undercount.  Most people who face discrimination do not realize it or do not have the means or time to file a complaint.  These complaints are the very tip of the iceberg, but the numbers do demonstrate trends.  From the statistics above either more people are filing complaints or violations are increasing in the community.  The Housing Center lists recommendations to reduce fair housing complaints in their report and they describe the method for collecting these complaints.  If you have concerns over discrimination or problems with a landlord that you believe is making rental decisions based on discriminatory prejudices contact the Housing Center
