            Movable Wall

The faces of homelessness have changed. Due to the foreclosure crisis and the poor economy, families, children, and women are a major part of the homeless demographic. NEOCH  works to educate the public, dispel the stereotypes of homelessness, and advocate for the homeless. The Movable Wall is one of NEOCH's newest projects designed to meet these goals.

The Movable Wall is a collage of pictures, statistics, and quotes designed to depict the true experience of homelessness and to inspire action to end it. All pictures were taken by individuals who have experienced homelessness and were trained in a professionally taught photography class offered by NEOCH. It has worked not only to provide photos for educational purposes, but also to empower these individuals by giving them the chance to express themselves and to produce some much needed financial assistance.

Paired with NEOCH's Street Voices, a program in which homeless or post-homeless individuals share their stories, the Movable Wall makes a great contribution to any social justice awareness event. Your church or organization could help the homeless by hosting the Movable Wall at one of your events. We would be happy to provide a Street Voices speaker and/or brochures relating to homelessness.

For more information regarding the Movable Wall or Street Voices or to schedule a Movable Wall exhibition, please contact NEOCH at 216.432.0540.

Below are some of the pictures taken by individuals from the photography class. Many appear on the Movable Wall exhibit.
