A Shelter Storm is Brewing

Local artists and musicians have joined to begin touring shelters and meal sites, providing entertainment for homeless persons in the Cleveland area.  This rag-tag group of poets, fiddlers, and gospel singers begin their tour (cordially referred to as the Shelter Storm Revue Tour) on Friday, March 24th, at 7:30 PM.  The opening show will be held at the 2100 Lakeside Men’s Shelter.  Among those agreeing to perform at the Friday evening gala affair are Meagen Hueslenbeck, a local poet; Gary Nelson, an old timey balladeer; Progeny, a popular Cleveland-based gospel group; and Josh Kanary, a suburban folk musician.

Following close on the heels of the 2100 Lakeside show, the Tour will make its next stop at the VOA Shelter on 2710 Walton Ave. on the 4th of April.  The festivities begin at 8:30 PM, featuring the same cast of characters doing what they do best.  The escapade doesn’t end there.  The Revue Tour will continue rolling to the Y-Haven shelter (located at 6001 Woodland Ave.) on May 12th, this time taking the stage at 10:15 AM so they can finish up just in time for lunch.

Shelter Storm is negotiating dates to perform in June and July in order to continue its once a month tour of duty.  The Revue Tour is always seeking to enlist local talent.  The only requirements are a good heart and a soul that’s on fire.  Artists who wish to get involved with the Revue Tour should contact Josh Kanary at the offices of the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (216.432.0540).
