December 24, 2006 We have just updated our calendar of events page with new events coming up in 2007. We have also added a new report, discussing housing and homelessness issues in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.

November 3, 2006 We just updated the calendar of events. Be sure to check out the Cleveland Homeless blog, which is regularly updated.
September 20, 2006 We have just added a job description for the Bridging the Gap Program Director. We are seeking a Program Director and applications are due October 18, 2006.
September 10, 2006 We have just added articles from the Homeless Grapevine Issue #26 to our Archived Grapevines page. This issue is from April of 1998.
August 31, 2006 We have just added the 2006 Street Card to the web site. The Street Card provides contact information for service providers and meal sites throughout Greater Cleveland.
We have also posted a list of NEOCH's Donors in 2005. Follow the link to see who has contributed to the Coalition.
NEOCH has recently registered with the organization, Network for Good. The site provides a means for nonprofits to connect with potential donors on the web. Follow the link above to find out more about us and how you can support the Coalition.
August 28, 2006 We would like to remind you of two important dates that are coming up. On September 11th, the Cuyahoga Affordable Housing Alliance (CAHA) will host its annual forum on housing issues. The event will be at 1:30 p.m. at 1350 Euclid Ave. in the lower level of the US Bank Building. All are welcome to attend.
Also, from September 25th to October 9th, the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) will open up its waiting list for Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher Program). This program only opens once every 5 years, and usually 35,000 people apply of which 6,000 will be selected through a lottery. There will be a training and information session for individuals, who are
interested in joining NEOCH's Street Voices
speakers bureau. Street Voices is a way for those who have experienced
homelessness to share their stories with the community with the hope of
fostering education. The event will be held on September 13th from 9 am to

We have just posted some new material to our website, regarding the need for
volunteers in the Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance
Program and recent efforts to increase participation in the
Community Voice Mail program. Learn

In our ongoing efforts to add stories to our
Homeless
Grapevine archives, new material from Issue #7 has just
been added. The articles from Sept. to Dec. 1994 can be found
here.
We have updated the list of partner agencies for the
Bridging the Gap program. The new list can be found at the bottom
of the BTG page.
You can also find Testimony from NEOCH's
Executive Director in opposition to the Akron Panhandling Ordinance as
part of the material that we have recently posted to the website.
Lastly, we have posted an outline of NEOCH's Advocacy
Agenda for 2005-2010. The agenda establishes a framework of goals
for our advocacy efforts. Follow the link above to learn more about
NEOCH's plans to assist the homeless community in the future.

August 11, 2006 We have just added a new link to our main page for Good Search. This site will donate one penny to NEOCH each time someone uses their search engine. Type in "NEOCH" into the "Charity name" section before your search.

Honorable Mention Award by the
Knight-Batten Award Committee,
which recognizes technological innovations in journalism.
We have also added a new page, highlighting NEOCH's accomplishments in 2005. Visit this page to learn about the work that NEOCH has performed in the community over the last year.
August 10, 2006 There is a Teach-In scheduled for September 20th. The focus will be veterans' issues. Also, on October 20th, there will be a service fair discussing housing opportunities in the community. Visit the Calendar of Events page for more information on these and other upcoming events.
May 24, 2006 We have created a new Community Voice Mail page on our website. The new layout should make it easier for visitors to find the information that they are looking for.
We have also added updated information to some of the pages on our website. You can find the new listings and information on our Shelters and Emergency Services page and our Housing and Prevention Services page.
April 19, 2006 We have just added a new resource to our website intended to assist veterans in finding services that are available to them in the community. You can follow this link or click on the link in the side bar to the left to find information about NEOCH's Veterans Service Initiative.
We would also like to remind everyone about the upcoming Teach-In on May 16. The event will focus on educating the public about women experiencing homelessness. You can find more information about the event and how to sign up at our Teach-In page.
April 5, 2006 We have just posted a new link to our resources page, detailing the statistics of those who are homeless each night in Cleveland. Click here to read the report of the average demographics of people using shelter each night.
We are also asking for poetry submissions from homeless and formerly homeless individuals for a Poetry Contest to be held during NEOCH's Annual Event on May 6th. The deadline for submissions is April 13th. Please send in a copy of the flyer that is posted online with your poem. For more information, you can contact the NEOCH office.

March 22, 2006 Just added to our press releases section is information on the Shelter Storm Revue Tour. The group, composed of local artists and musicians will be visiting Cleveland's shelters to entertain residents over the coming months. Dates for the tour, as well as many other great upcoming events, can be found on our Calendar of Events page.
We have also just added a posting for new AmeriCorps*VISTA positions at NEOCH. If you would be interested in a VISTA position working as an advocate for the homeless community in Ohio, please click here to read the posting.
March 10, 2006 We have just posted the results of the "2005 Performance Survey" for the Community Voice Mail program. Click here to download the document in .pdf format. March 3, 2006 We have added new information to our website, discussing Strategies for Ending Homelessness. In addition, our Volunteering page is now updated with new information about how you can help the homeless community. Click here to visit our volunteer page and find out how you can help.

We have also posted a press release, addressing the upcoming Teach-In which will focus on ways that faith-based organizations can help homeless people. The event will be held at the NEOCH office on Monday, Feb. 27th. Please visit our Teach-In page for more information.

February 18, 2006 We have just added two new press releases to our website--one highlighting the achievements of Cleveland's Community Voice Mail program and another concerning the National Coalition's report of violence against homeless people in 2005.
We have also made it easier for groups to sponsor presentations from NEOCH's Street Voices Speaker's Bureau by signing up online. Click here to view our online form or click the link above to visit the Street Voices webpage.
January 30, 2006 We have recently posted new information on upcoming events to our Calendar page. Follow the link to learn about the annual Stand Down that is scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd weekends in February, and the Teach-In coming up at the end of the month.
We have also added articles from Issue #5 of the Homeless Grapevine to our archives section. This issue dates back to February-May of 1994.

Also new to our website is testimony from Michael Gibbs of Cleveland's Community Voice Mail program in response to the Public Utilities Commission's proposal for a rate increase on phone service.
January 14, 2006 We have just added a job announcement to the website. The Cleveland Tenants Organization is looking for a full time Development Director who will serve CTO, the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and Environmental Health Watch. January 12, 2006 We have a new press release on our website detailing the further criminalization of homelessness in U.S. Cities with the publication of the Dream Denied: Criminalization of Homelessness in the U.S. publication. This is a joint publication of the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty. Our press release is under resources and can be found here.
January 8, 2006 The Inside/Outside Gallery and the Homeless Grapevine are looking for homeless artists, who would like to have their work featured. Whatever your talent, all forms of art are welcome. You can read the flyer we have posted on our website for more information.
We would also like to remind you that the Grapevine is always open to training new vendors. Our regular training hours have been changed to Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly from 11:30 to 12:30. Read our description online about how you can start selling the paper.
January 4, 2006 New to our site is a press release on the letter NEOCH sent to the new Mayor of Cleveland regarding the priorities of homeless people .
We have also added background information on the problems that NEOCH has documented with regard to the Office of Homeless Services in our Statistics and Strategies section. In this section is the letter to the Mayor without the press release attached.
January 3, 2006 New to our site is a press release following our Candlelight Vigil on December 21st in honor of National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day. Vigils are held annually at different locations throughout the City in order to remember those, who have suffered and died because of homelessness.
We have also added a press release which expresses the opinions of NEOCH's Board towards the proposal for implementing time limits for shelter care.
