December 30, 2005  Recent updates to the website include a new Intake Schedule for the Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program (CHLAP) in 2006.  This schedule tells you when and where CHLAP attorneys will be available for Intake Sessions. 

 

We have also just added new dates to our Calendar of Events page, highlighting the 2006 Homeless Stand Down on four dates throughout the month of February.  Click here to find out what the Stand Down is all about.  Keep checking our Updates for more details on the upcoming event.

In addition, you can find testimony from NEOCH's Executive Director, Brian Davis, before the Senate Rules Committee on HB 3.  This Bill has a significant impact on voter's rights in Ohio.  Click here to read the testimony.

 

We have also added is also a new link to Fact Sheets from the National Coalition for the Homeless' to our Statistics & Strategies page.  These publications present information on Why People are Homeless, basic facts about homelessness, statistics, and other relevant issues regarding homelessness in America.

 


 

December 5, 2005  We have just added a national advocacy alert about the recent budget reconciliation bill (Sb 1932), which attempts to cut down the deficit by reducing spending on mandatory programs.  Click here to read about the Bill's impact on homeless people.

Lastly, we have posted a list of social justice contacts to our website.  These organizations all work towards solving problems associated with poverty.  You may contact these organizations to find out what they are doing to end poverty and homelessness, and how you can help to create a better society locally and nationally.

December 1, 2005  We have just added a a new national piece of advocacy to our website, detailing the position of NEOCH with regard to the new Community Partnership to End Homelessness Act. Senate Bill 1801 by Senator Reed of Rhode Island. Here is the direct link to the advocacy alert.


November 16, 2005  We have just added articles from Grapevine Issue #71 to the website.  Click here to read the articles, or visit the Homeless Grapevine page for more information on the street newspaper.  We have also posted the latest press release regarding the ribbon cutting of the new HousingCleveland.org website. 

Updated listings for Housing & Prevention Services and Shelter & Emergency Services in Cuyahoga County have also been posted.  Both lists can be found on our Resources page.


November 9, 2005  We have just added a new press release to our website, detailing the events that will take place throughout Ohio during National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week (The week of November 13th).  Also on our Calendar of Events page is the upcoming Press Conference and Ribbon Cutting ceremony  in honor of the new HousingCleveland.org website, which will help tenants to find affordable housing in the area.


October 31, 2005  We have just added a new link to our website.  HousingCleveland.org provides a comprehensive listing of affordable housing units that are available in Cuyahoga County.  Please visit this site if you would like to find out about affordable housing options in the area, or if you are a landlord with properties that you would like to post on the site.

We have also added a new press release regarding Cleveland Community Voice Mail's (CCVM) being awarded the 2005 Golden Phone Award.  CCVM has recently relocated to a new Lorain Avenue office in an effort to better serve the communication needs of low-income individuals and families.  Click here to learn more about the work that CCVM performs.


October 20, 2005  We have just posted the 2005 Homeless Grapevine Reader Survey.  Please take a moment to fill out the survey and help us to make the Grapevine better.  Survey respondents will have a chance to win some great prizes!!  The results will be published in Issue #74 of The Homeless Grapevine


October 17, 2005  We have added a statement about the current progress made at the Women's Shelter regarding the dispute over conditions.  We have also added a similar press release.

September 21, 2005  We have just added a report, providing updated statistics on Homelessness in Cuyahoga County.  More information and statistics can also be found on our Statistics & Strategies page.  There will also be a spaghetti Dinner on October 15th at 6 p.m. in support of the Homeless Grapevine street newspaper.  Tickets are $7 per person and $10 per couple.  Call Kevin at 216.432.0540 if you would like to attend.

 


 

September 10, 2005  We have just added a new press release to the site commending the City's response to aiding those displaced by Hurricane Katrina, while recognizing the problems that we already face with housing our own homeless population.

We have also added notes concerning the problems at the women's shelter to provide further background to this ongoing struggle.  See "What went wrong at the Community Women's Shelter" for more information.  Also visit our Calendar of Events page to find more information on the upcoming protest scheduled for October 14.
 


September 7, 2005  NEOCH has a VISTA position open.  See the information on our jobs page.  Applications are due by September 24, 2005. 


August 31, 2005  NEOCH has postponed the Guantanamo Protest while negotiations are taking place.  Here is an updated press release.  We have also updated the calendar of events.

August 19, 2005  NEOCH will be holding a protest in support of the women staying at the Community Women's Shelter on Thursday, September 1st at 2 p.m.  Check out our Calendar of Events page or contact the NEOCH office for more information.


August 12, 2005  We have just added another issue of the Homeless Grapevine to our archives.  Click here to read articles from Issue #35.  Also, we have added a new date to our Calendar of Events page for NEOCH's next Teach-In on October 19th.  The focus for this free educational event will be on Housing programs in the community.

June 10, 2005  We have added a link to the Community Hiring Hall in both our program section and the links section.


June 7, 2005  We have posted our 2004 Annual Report for the Coalition.  This is an Adobe .pdf document.  We will post a http web friendly version of the highlights from the Annual Report in the next few weeks.


May 21, 2005  There will be a Housing 101 Workshop in June, cosponsored by Cleveland Tenant's Organization, Alliance of Cleveland HUD Tenants and NEOCH.  Please visit our Calendar of Events page for information on this event and others that are coming up.

May 9, 2005  We have just added the new 2005 Street Card to the web site.  The Street Card provides contact information for service providers and meal sites throughout Greater Cleveland.  In addition, we have recently posted a report that discusses What to Do About Overflowing Shelters in Cleveland.


April 27, 2005  We have just added a new listing to our Community Voice Mail page of participating agencies in the Lorain County area.  Click here to go directly to the Lorain County listing.  Also, please check out our Calendar page to find out about upcoming events, like the Development Advisory Group Informational Dinner.  We have just posted openings for our newest AmeriCorps National Service and AmeriCorps*VISTA positions at NEOCH!  Please check out these opportunities if you are interested as the deadlines are coming up soon!!  Lastly, please remember the great opportunity to host an informative Street Voices speaker presentation.  We have just added a new flyer that provides details on how to sign up.

February 24, 2005  We have just added several new dates to our Calendar of Events page.  Check out what's going on at NEOCH and in the community in 2005.  Be sure to note the upcoming Teach-In event and NEOCH's Annual Event/Auction.  We have also included a new link on our Links page for Organize! Ohio, a group that is committed to advancing and encouraging community organizing for progressive change throughout the State.  You can even check out the changes on our Cleveland Community Voice Mail page and read about how this great program and its national partner are helping homeless and phoneless people in communities across the country to stay connected.


January 28, 2005  Our 2005 Homeless Stand Down is coming up on February 11th and 12th.  Check out our Stand Down page for more information on this event.  We have also just added a press release from the Ohio Coalition of Homeless Advocates concerning the dangers of harsh winter weather on our state's homeless population.
