December 14, 2004  We have just added two more issues of the Grapevine to our online archives: Issue #2 and Issue #59


December 10, 2004  We have just added an updated list of NEOCH's staff to our About NEOCH page.  We have also posted a new press release, reporting the results of a recent survey of homeless individuals in Cleveland.


December 1, 2004  We have just added Issue #65 and Issue #66 of the Homeless Grapevine to the website.  We have also updated our Calendar page.  Please check out the new events that are coming up this winter, including our next Teach-In and the 2005 Stand Down.  In addition, we have added a press release from the National Coalition that details the findings of their 2004 Report on the Criminalization of Homelessness in the U.S.

October 6, 2004  We have just added Issue #17 of the Grapevine to our Archives section.


October 5, 2004  We have added information about the next Teach In in October, and a sign up sheet to RSVP for the next Tour of homelessness.

August 9, 2004  We have just added a new page to the site to inform people of the Volunteer Opportunities in Direct Service that are available in the community.


August 6, 2004  We just added Grapevine Issue #8 to the website. We have also added the transcript from the welfare reform forum at Cleveland State University Nov. 2003. Add your voice to the NEOCH strategic plan by completing this survey which will decide the direction of the agency. 


July 29, 2004  We have just added the Know Your Legal Rights brochure to the site.  Check out this useful tool useful tool to educate the homeless population on their rights in the City of Cleveland, including the "Shelter Bill of Rights".  You can also access it through the Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance page.


July 26, 2004  We are looking to bring together individuals, who would be interested in helping to plan next year's Annual Event.  Our 3rd Annual Event in May was a wonderful occasion. We will be holding an informal gathering on August 27th at 5:30 p.m. at the NEOCH office to bring together those, who are interested in being involved in the planning process.  Get involved in making next year's Event a success!  Click here to RSVP.

July 16, 2004  We have added new Press Releases to the site about the exploitive videos being sold by major retailers and our newest edition to the Grapevine.

July 8, 2004  We have added links to our Programs on the Home Page and included a copy of the Intake Schedule for anyone, who needs to utilize the Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program.


June 15, 2004  The National Coalition for the Homeless has just released its 5th Annual Hate Crimes Report, Hate, Violence and Death on Main Street USA: A Report on Hate Crimes and Violence Against People Experiencing HomelessnessThe report documents violent attacks and other harmful actions against homeless people.  We have added a page for you to view the NCH's and NEOCH's press release.


June 4, 2004  We have gone through our Links Page and fixed the broken links.


May 26, 2004 We have just added a new press release to the site, regarding NEOCH's FACE to FACE exhibit.  Along with this press release, visit the FACE to FACE  Page for more information on the project. 


May 19, 2004 We have just finished our 3rd Annual Dinner Benefit and Auction with much success.  At the event, we released our 2004 Annual Report.  You can now read it online.


May 18, 2004 We have just posted a Printer-Friendly (.pdf) Version of the 2004 Street Card on the site for download.  It had been posted as an MS Word document, but this will make the Street Card more universally accessible.  Find it here.


May 14, 2004 We have just added a new job description to our Jobs Page.  This job is with one of our partner agencies, the Community Hiring Hall.  You can also read the latest press release on the status of the Homeless Grapevine.


May 12, 2004 We have recently added a memorial presentation to our dear, departed friend, Daniel Thompson.  Daniel had long been a supporter of the Homeless Grapevine, and his poems had appeared in nearly every issue.


May 10, 2004 We have just added some more articles to our Archived Grapevines section.  Eventually, we hope to have articles from each issue posted online.  There have also been updates to the Volunteer Page, which reflect the needs of the Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program (CHLAP).


May 3, 2004  We have updated the Advocacy Alerts section to include the most recent alerts.  Educate yourself on the issues, and learn how you can help to improve the situation on the national, state, and local levels.  We have also added our most recent press release, concerning our call for action on Mother's Day Weekend.  For more information, read the document here.


April 16, 2004  NEOCH's 3rd Annual Dinner Benefit and Auction is coming up on Sunday, May 16th.  You can sign up for the event online now.  Please come and show your support, or call the office (216.432.0540) to find out other ways that individuals and businesses can help out.


April 2, 2004  Check out the new look to Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program page.  We have also added forms for Volunteer Attorneys, Law Students, and Paralegals to facilitate contact with the CHLAP program.


April 1, 2004  We have just added Internship opportunities to our website.  Learn about all the ways that interns can help NEOCH and its programs.  We have also added some new photos to different parts of our website, so you can check out some members of the community as you browse..


March 31, 2004  The Homeless Grapevine is in threat of closing.  Having just celebrated its 10th year as Northeast Ohio's Street Newspaper, the Grapevine may no longer have the funding to continue publishing.  Read the most recent press release here.


March 15, 2004  We understand that there have been some problems on the Grapevine portion of our website.  These problems have been fixed and you can continue to read articles from our archived issues.  We have also updated our Bridging the Gap program page to recognize recent changes that occurred in the program.


March 12, 2004  The press release for the new Street Card has just been added to the site.  You can check out the new Street Card by following the link on the March 8th update.


March 8, 2004  Check out the new Street Card that is posted on the site.  Find out what services are available to the homeless community in the Cleveland area.  The file is in .doc format, so you will need MS Word to view it.  We will soon have a copy in .pdf format for viewing with Adobe Acrobat.  In addition, you can now read the most recent Grapevines online.  We have just posted articles and commentaries from issues 61, 63, and 64


 

February 5-6, 2004  We have included the President's proposed Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Budget for 2005 on our website.  Please take a moment to read over the budget and learn more about what advocates can do to  influence funds going to homeless people and programs.  Also, please read a wonderful new article we have added to the site, written by Kathy Smith of the SouthWest Unitarian Universalist Church.  The article is a commentary of the homeless situation that we face here in Cleveland, based on facts that she collected.

 


 

January 30, 2004  Read the new events on our Calendar page to see what's coming up and to find out about our next Teach-In in April.  We have also added the speech that NEOCH's Director, Brian Davis, gave before the City Club on January 14th.  In addition, you can now read the statistics on the State of Homelessness in 2003.

 


 

January 28, 2004  The Stand Down is a few weeks away and with the bitter cold and wind chill that we are experiencing in Cleveland, it is seeking to fill a great need in the homeless community.  The distribution of winter clothing at the event helps people to fight off the effects of the harsh weather.  We are still in need of donations of winter coats and boots, so if you have any of these items in new or slightly worn conditions, please bring them down to Old Stone Church on Cleveland's Public Square by February 8th.  Please call first for drop-off times: (216)241-6145.
